He has been interested in the art of painting since he was a child. Since 1997 he has expanded his activities more and more. He attended the private school of the academic painter Zmago Modic. At the painting section “VIR KUD Radovljica” he is working under the mentorship of the academic painters Janez Kovačič and Dr. Cene Avguštin. He is also a member of the art section of “KUD-Kliničnega centra in medicinske fakultete Dr. Lojz Kraigher” in Ljubljana.
He likes to visit other exhibitions, painting work shops and extempores, too.
‘Ivan Prešern is an artist in the full meaning of the word; he lives for the art, or in other words, art is his life. As many of the true artists he is pretty modest. But if we make some jokes, we cannot say he is quiet too, on the contrary, he is very loud, because besides being a painter, he is a trumpet player as well.’ (Prof. Mirko Juteršek).
